Licensing service

MOTA provides different services to citizens and businesses; this section focuses on the Licensing service provided throughout Tourism Law.

MOTA is responsible for administrative tasks related to the issuance of tourism licenses, follow-up with the licensing procedures comprising preliminary approvals, renewal, amendment and cancellation.

Each and every tourism facility must be licensed by MOTA in order to market or sell its services.

:: Who is considered a “Tourism Facility”?
All the following are considered a "Tourism Facility" and are directly controlled and monitored by the Tourism Law

  • Tourist Guides.
  • Hotel Foundations.
  • Traditional & Popular Crafts & Industries.
  • Travel Agencies.
  • Touristic Restaurants.
  • Time Share Offices.
  • Special Tourism Transportation Company.

In the process of issuing a license, the tourism facility must go through a fixed set of procedures explained in detail in the Tourism Law, and clarified further in the Services Guide Document designed by the Professions Department at MOTA. All procedures and Licensing steps, along with lists of required identification papers to submit with the application are included in the Services Guide, and loaded on MOTA web site as a first step to ease the process of getting a license for the facility, with downloadable versions of MOTA templates and formal papers.

MOTA is eager to ease the Licensing process by providing it as an e-service, MOTA responsibilities towards its customers include:

  1. Simplifying procedures in a practical way meeting the general system requirements and quality criteria as well as the customers' interest in accordance with the MOTA’s general policies.
  2. Following-up with the tourism licenses according to the Tourism laws and Administrative Orders while observing the Arabic and Islamic traditions and values.
  3. Contacting other Government Departments, when necessary.
